The agreement to start the collection of recyclable materials (PMD and paper) in the Municipal District of Acherito was signed yesterday by the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, and the Operational Director of Green-Dot, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Acherito, Mr. Michalis Kaounas.

The collection of recyclable materials in the Municipal District of Acherito will begin on April 8, 2025 and will take place door-to-door every Tuesday morning and residents of the Municipal District of Acherito will be able to deposit special recycling bags outside their homes, namely the transparent one for PMD and the brown one for Paper, while glass will be placed in the special green bins.

It is recalled that recycling takes place in all Municipal Districts of the Municipality and the program is as follows:

– Paralimni Sector A: PMD: Monday morning / Paper: Wednesday morning
– Paralimni Sector B: PMD: Tuesday Morning / Paper: Thursday Morning
– Deryneia: PMD & Paper: Monday morning
– Brakeman: PMD & Paper: Tuesday morning
– Aheritou: PMD & Paper: Monday morning (from April 8, 2025)

*It is noted that the tourist area of Protaras (commercial premises) as well as the semi-submersible recycling bins are serviced by the staff of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.

In his statements, the Mayor of Paralimni-Dheryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, expressed his satisfaction that the entire Municipality is now served by a door-to-door recycling program. He also called on households and businesses to participate in the recycling program because, as he said, in addition to gaining environmental awareness, recycling contributes to reducing the weight of mixed materials (waste), which will, by extension, contribute to reducing the taxes borne by the citizens.
