On Sunday 01/09/24, the Acheritos Memorial Day event and the commemoration of the heroically fallen and those unjustly executed by the barbaric invaders took place in the Refugee Settlement of St.Georgio Vrysoullon Acheritos.
The event was held under the auspices of the honorable Minister of Health Mr. Michalis Damianos.
In attendance were, among others, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia Mr. Giorgos Nicolettos, the President of EOA Famagusta Mr. Yiannis Karousos, Deputy Mayor of Acheritou Michalis Kaunas, President of the Free Acheritou Association Yiannis Georgiou, MPs, party representatives, representatives of Mayors and community leaders, security forces, families of the heroes , organized groups, municipal councilors, friends of the Eleftheris Acheritou Association and many Acherites who are scattered throughout Cyprus.
A speech was made by the President of the Association Eleftheris Acheritou and by the Minister of Health.
This was followed by a trisago and a prayer to find the missing people of Acheritou.
This was followed by the laying of wreaths at the community's fallen and missing memorial.
