The Police appeals to the province of Famagusta regarding yesterday's case of sending a large amount of money with false representations by an elderly person in the community of Xylofagos.

According to the Spokesperson of the Famagusta Police Department, Andrea Konstantinou, the Police are looking for a woman, about 20 years old, as a suspect in the crime of securing the amount of 16 thousand euros from an elderly resident of the free province of Famagusta.

According to a complaint made yesterday at the Famagusta TAE, the woman persuaded the elderly man to lend them the amount of 16 thousand euros under the pretext of covering medical expenses related to a serious illness that her child is facing. Subsequently, the Spokesperson states, after securing the specific amount of money, she did not contact the complainant again.

On the occasion of this incident, Mr. Konstantinou appeals on behalf of the Police to the public, as he is very careful so as not to be persuaded by experts who with various pretexts try to secure various sums of money.

According to the data of the case, the Police in the free area of ​​Famagusta is looking for a 20-year-old girl, who seems to have extracted from an 80-year-old, a sum of 16 thousand euros.

According to the Police, yesterday, Monday, February 11, at the Famagusta Police Department, an 80-year-old man reported that between January and February 2019, an unknown woman, probably of Greek origin, about 20 years old, extorted a large sum of money from him.

According to the complainant, the girl, on the pretext that her child was suffering from a serious health problem and needed financial support to cover his medical expenses, managed to receive from the 80-year-old, a sum of 16 thousand euros.

The 80-year-old described the girl as slender, brunette and with long hair, who seems to be involved in a street clothes trade.

However, as soon as the 20-year-old realized that the elderly man's children were informed about the money he gave her, she stopped communicating with him and visiting his house.

The 20-year-old is wanted by the Police as a suspect in a case of securing money with false representations.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
