Maintaining the presence of Greek Cypriots in the area of Strovilia, but also providing incentives for the establishment of new families, is a matter of paramount importance for the Government. In addition to the long-term support of the permanent residents of Strovilia, specific financial support plans have been established for all the inhabitants of the remote areas, including Strovilia.

Specifically, the relevant plans have already been prepared and will be announced by the Minister of Interior in the coming days with the amount of support for the purchase or construction of a house amounting to 55,000 euros depending on the composition of the family. At the same time, additional assistance of 15,000 euros may be granted in case of special constructions.

Citizens who will acquire a privately owned house, new or existing, for permanent ownership can also benefit from the same plan. The plan also covers the possibility of the house being acquired either through an inheritance or a donation.

It is also recalled that with a recent decision of the Council of Ministers, the permanent residents of Strovilia are granted an amount of 5000 euros for maintenance and repair of their homes every 7 years, while there is the possibility for financial assistance provided by the Minister of Interior to cover emergency repairs and needs.

The Ministry of Interior, together with the co-competent Ministries, is already considering measures to provide additional support to the residents of Strovilia, an initiative of which the Mayor of Deryneia is aware.
