The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 14,2% in Cyprus in November 2016, from 13,8% in October, according to Eurostat and corresponds to 61 people, amounting to 000% for men and 14% for women. This is the 14,4rd highest rate in the EU.

 The unemployment rate in the EU-28 was 8,3% in November 2016, down from 8,4% in October 2016 and from 9,0% in November 2015. This is the lowest rate recorded in the EU-28 since in February 2009. Eurostat estimates that 20,429 million men and women in the 28-nation EU, of which 15.898.000 in the euro area, were unemployed in November 2016.

Compared to October 2016, the number of unemployed decreased by 41 000 in the EU-28 and by 15 000 in the euro area. Compared to November 2015, unemployment fell by 1.552.000 in the 28-nation EU and by 972 in the euro area.

 Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates in November 2016 were recorded in the Czech Republic (3,7%) and Germany (4,1%). The highest unemployment rates are observed in Greece (23,1% in September 2016) and Spain (19,2%).

Compared to a year ago, unemployment rates in November 2016 decreased in twenty-four Member States, while they increased in Estonia (from 6,3% to 7,4%), Cyprus (from 13,2% to 14,2, 6,1%), Denmark (from 6,5% to 11,5%) and Italy (from 11,9% to 15,7%). The largest decrease was recorded in Croatia (from 11,4% to XNUMX%).
