Another 164 recruitments are promoted by the State

Another 164 recruitments are made by the state mechanism, essentially bypassing the policy of filling positions in the Public and in the wider Public sector, which has been decided and implemented.

Specifically, the Department of Public Administration and Personnel informed the Parliament through two letters that the Council of Ministers took relevant decisions regarding the above number of positions, requesting, at the same time, the approval of the Finance Committee, in order to proceed with the procedures to ensure financial dimension.

Among those that stand out in today's press are: the filling of the position of prefect, the position of Director of Higher Education, the position of Director in the Department of Merchant Shipping, as well as the hiring of 12 air traffic controllers and 14 educational planning officers for the Ministry of Education.

With regard to promotions and recruitment, as stated in a relevant letter, the exclusion of 94 positions is requested following requests submitted by public law companies. The remaining 79 are intended for 12 semi-governmental organizations with long-term costs, amounting to 4,7 million euros per year.

 In addition, the Council of Ministers, before Christmas, decided to pay 64 positions in the Public Sector and 6 positions of hourly wage staff, of which one position is foreman in the Department of Forests, and five positions also foreman in the Department of Electromechanical Services.

Also, out of 64, 37 positions are first appointment and promotion and 27 first appointment, as well as first appointment and promotion are five positions in the Ministry of Agriculture, four in the Ministry of Interior, 12 in the Ministry of Education, 6 in the Ministry of Transport, but also 8 positions of Assistant Directors of the clinic and department in the Medical Services of the Ministry of Education.

 Regarding the Cyprus Ports Authority, one position of internal control chief, two positions of port manager, one position of mechanical engineer, one position of electrical engineer, two positions of internal control officer, two positions of administrative officer, two positions of port inspector, two positions are going to be unblocked. administrative officer and two positions of senior administrative officer.

 The rest are: 16 positions in the Electricity Authority, 4 positions in the Capital Market Commission, 1 position of municipal secretary in the Municipality of Deryneia, one position in the Board of Registration and Audit of Real Estate Agents, two positions in CERA, 45 positions in the University of Cyprus, two senior positions in KOAP, two positions of inspectors in the Registration Council in the Real Estate Council, two positions in the Municipality of Nicosia, one position of artistic director in THOK with a contract, two positions in the Limassol Sewerage Council and a position of General Manager in the Paphos Sewerage Council.
