In his greeting, on the occasion of the European Week of Cervical Cancer Prevention (January 24-30, 2016), the Minister of Health said that "it only takes a few minutes, since that is how long the Pap test takes".

"And it is as much as every woman needs to protect her life. For her, her family, the people she loves ", he added.

As Mr. Pamporidis noted, "in Cyprus, 30 new cases are diagnosed annually and there are 8 deaths from cervical cancer on average", to add that the largest percentage of them belongs to the age group of women 35 to 50 years".

"This number can be gradually reduced. That is our goal. To this end, we are taking another step this year by including the HPV vaccine in the vaccination program of the Ministry of Health. The vaccination, which will start in September 2016, will be offered to all girls aged 12-13, covering private schools, through the School Medical Service ", he said.

Of course, he said that enlightenment, information, the creation of a culture of prevention are cornerstones in the fight against cervical cancer and its victory, which "victory" is entitled to every woman.

The Cyprus Federation of Professional Women Entrepreneurs, a valuable and consistent collaborator of the Ministry of Health in the joint fight against cervical cancer, participates this year in the European Prevention Week held from 24 to 30 January. The main goal of the campaign is the correct information and awareness of the need for proper regular prevention and early diagnosis.
