2 thousand people with autism in Cyprus

In Cyprus, children and adults with autism are estimated at around two thousand, with experts talking about a dramatic increase in cases over the last decade, according to a statement issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Volunteering and Non-Governmental Organizations.

On the occasion of the World Autism Day on April 2, the announcement states that "the mission of the state, voluntary and non-governmental organizations and society as a whole should be to improve the lives of people with autism, to design effective treatments so that to address the daily challenges and difficulties faced by these individuals, increasing the acceptance, respect and support of society as a whole for people with autism and their families ”.

It adds that "it is the duty of all of us to offer autistic people adequate personalized care, support and assistance, so that not only do they not feel excluded, but on the contrary experience their essential integration into society."

According to the announcement, "an effective method of treatment has not yet been found for autism, since the causes that cause it have not been identified so far, however, it helps a lot to help people with autism, the constant involvement with them, but mainly love and the affection that each of us will give them ”.
