The District Administration of Famagusta is ready for the parliamentary elections that will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2016.

As the Famagusta District Andreas Ktoridis explained to KYPE, "the District Administration is fully prepared for the parliamentary elections of May 22nd. The offices of the Famagusta District Administration in Larnaca will be open on Saturday, May 21 from 8 in the morning until one in the afternoon to replace a damaged or lost ballot paper ".

It is reminded that the voters will be able to vote in the parliamentary elections in addition to the ballot paper and with the new type of IDs and for Famagusta the voters are entitled to up to three crosses of preference.

He explained that "the polls will open at seven in the morning, close at 12 noon for a one-hour break, open at one in the afternoon and the voting will end at 6 in the afternoon. "The counting of votes will take place in the local polling stations."

The announcement of the new MPs of the Famagusta constituency will take place on Monday, May 23, at 12 noon at the Cultural Center of Occupied Famagusta in Deryneia.

A total of 89 candidates, including 18 women, from twelve parties and combinations submitted their candidacies, in view of the parliamentary elections of May 22, 2016, claiming one of the 11 seats in Famagusta.

Seven parties and combinations come down with 11 candidates, one party with 6 candidates, one with 3 candidates and three parties come down with one candidate.

A total of 51 polling stations will operate in the free province of Famagusta. The largest polling station is in Deryneia High School with 700 voters and the smallest in Acheritos Primary School with 427 voters.

The trapped will vote at Center C in Acheritou while the voters of Nicosia and Kyrenia will vote at Center N of the B Primary School of Paralimni. Specifically, 185 displaced people are from the province of Kyrenia and 258 are displaced from the province of Nicosia.

The voters of the religious groups, ie the Maronites and the Latins, will vote in the polling stations in Larnaca.

The number of voters in the free province of Famagusta is 30,735, while the number of voters nationwide for Famagusta is 110,879.

A total of 255 employees, including 77 unemployed graduates, will work for the elections in the Famagusta constituency.

Besides, according to the Police, about 112 police officers from the Famagusta Police Directorate will work for the parliamentary elections next Sunday.
