Today marks the 29th anniversary of the illegal and separatist proclamation of the pseudo-state, an action which was condemned by resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the entire international community.

In November 1983, Turkey instigated and applauded the "unilateral declaration of independence" in the occupied territory by the Turkish Cypriot leadership.

In their announcements, all parties and other bodies condemn the illegal and separatist proclamation of the pseudo-state and call on the people to fight for justice.

At 7 tonight AKEL organizes an anti-occupation event at the Orpheus Roadblock with the General Speaker of AKEL as the main speaker.

EDEK is also holding a condemnation event at 7:30 tonight at the Press Center.

An event is also organized by the Committee of Occupied Municipalities at the Cultural Center of Kykkos in Archangelos at 7:30.

In the morning, the AFEX of the University of Cyprus and the AFK NIKI TEPAK hold a protest rally at the Roadblock of Ledra Palace.

In addition, the British Cypriot Federation is organizing an anti-occupation event in the afternoon outside the Turkish Embassy in Central London.

POFEN - PSEM: The protest in Agios Kasianos

At the roadblock of Agios Cassianos in divided Nicosia and not at the stadium of Orpheus, as originally announced, will be held today the anti-occupation event organized by the Pancyprian Federation of Student Unions (POFEN) and the Pancyprian Coordinating Committee for proclamation of the pseudo-state.

After a long and quite confusing background, in which, in addition to the student groups, the Police was also involved, he clarified the landscape regarding the venue of the student and student movement demonstration. And, specifically, the point at which the course of students and pupils will finally end, which is expected to begin today at 10:30 am. from the moat of the Famagusta Gate.

The confusion that arose, which eventually led to the change of venue of the anti-occupation event, was due to the difference of opinion that was observed both among the student groups participating in POFEN, and between the majority of them with the Police.

Police Authorities and Proodeftiki argued that today's anti-occupation event should take place at Orpheus Stadium, citing security reasons, while Protoporia, Anagennisi and Agonas were in favor of such an event taking place at the roadblock of Agios Cassianos, expressing at the same time their intention to protest there, either with or without policing.

Yesterday at 4 pm, a POFEN delegation met once again with the Police, in an attempt to find a solution to the issue of the venue of the event, which for three days now gave a headache not only to the student movement but also to the Police, which was targeted by the Avant-Garde, which accused it of "refusing to police the event in case it took place at the roadblock of Agios Cassianos".

But instead of finding a solution, the issue seems to have become more complicated as POFEN left when the meeting ended, without having an idea of where the event would take place.

The solution was given a little later by the Police, which informed POFEN about its intention to police the event at the roadblock of Agios Cassianos.

We will never accept the accomplishments of the Turkish invasion, says the Greek Foreign Minister

Greece and Cyprus "will never accept the accomplishments of the Turkish invasion and occupation," the Greek Foreign Ministry said on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the unilateral declaration of a pseudo-state in the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus.

"This situation" hinders the finding of a mutually acceptable solution to the Cyprus problem and has led the Turkish Cypriot community to international isolation, "the statement said.

It is even pointed out that the UN Security Council has explicitly condemned this legally invalid action and has called on all states not to recognize, facilitate or in any way assist the separatist entity that calls itself the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus".

"Celebrations" in the occupied areas with Eroglou shots against the Greek Cypriots

A military parade is taking place in the occupied part of Nicosia. Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, representatives of the Turkish National Assembly and the Turkish Armed Forces, and the vice-president of the Republican People's Party, the Turkish Democratic Party, have come to the occupied areas to mark the anniversary of the illegal proclamation of the TRNC.

Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, in a message, claimed that "the Turkish Cypriot people have a modern and democratic state." We do not lack anything from the recognized states, we have much more, he added.

Eroglou accused the Greek Cypriot side that it has no will for a solution and said that its mentality must change. "Otherwise, they (the Greek Cypriots) will continue on their way and we ours," he said.
