Υπ. Trade: The Easter table is 3% cheaper than last year

The Easter table for Cypriot consumers is expected to be about 3% cheaper this year, according to what the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism Neoklis Silikiotis said today…

Mr. Silikiotis visited supermarkets in Nicosia today as part of the inspections carried out by the Ministry of Commerce in view of the Easter holidays.

"It is a way to first look closely at the movement that exists, but most importantly, which is our responsibility, to monitor prices," said the Minister of Commerce, recalling that the Ministry operates the Price Observatory that monitors prices. for all products.

"What we are seeing this year is that the Easter table is cheaper than last year," he said, noting that, according to the Observatory, the Easter table will be about 3% cheaper than last year.

Mr. Silikiotis pointed out that there are significant reductions in terms of meat, which is, as he stated, an important product for the Easter table, but there is also a significant reduction in the prices of Easter dishes, which he described as pleasant, "so so that every citizen can have what he needs at his Easter table ".

He also described as very important the work done by the officials who constantly monitor the prices and stated the readiness of the Ministry to intervene if distortions are found.

Finally, he mentioned that the fact that the Easter table is cheaper this year is also important for professionals, as these days the traffic in the market is increasing and the impact of the crisis is mitigating.
