The 5th Pancyprian Festival dedicated to potatoes is organized again this year by the Community of Avgoros and invites us to try alternative and traditional recipes based on potatoes.
The Festival will take place on Saturday, July 22 in the courtyard of the First Elementary School of Avgoros.
Visitors will have the opportunity to try the local product of Avgoros but also to have fun in a traditional artistic program.

Face cream and sweet potato
Within the framework of the Pancyprian Potato Festival, alternative uses of potatoes were presented, which the visitors of the Festival can try. With the cooperation of experts, soap and face cream from potatoes have been prepared, as well as sweets, some of which are potato jam, potato lava and traditional "pobes".
Great nutritional value
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, the potato is one of the most nutritious tubers, as it contains starch and potassium, while it is rich in carbohydrates, organic acids and vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C.
Cyherbia Botanical Garden
In the village you will find a beautiful park full of herbs and flowers called Cyherbia. The park has the shape of Cyprus and gives you the opportunity to do the "tour of the island" in 10 minutes. You will enter a large maze and the challenge is to be able to find the exit and the 7 hidden objects. There are a total of 9 different vegetable gardens and a store with all kinds of organic products.
Ethnographic Museum of Avgoros
In the house of Koutra, a rare example of traditional architecture of the area, is housed the "Ethnographic Museum of Avgorou". In addition to donations from personal collections of the residents of the community, the museum exhibits an important folklore collection of the Pierides Foundation that includes, among other things, rare wood-carved furniture of the 18th and 19th centuries, unique embroidery and textiles, costumes, silverware and pottery. a series of nine paintings by the great folk painter of Cyprus Michael Cassialos, as well as many other traditional utensils and tools.
Alternative Cafe "Like Many Lakkirtin"
In the area of the Ethnographic Museum of Avgoros, an alternative charitable cafe has been operating since 2016 under the name "As Pollete Lakkirtin". The cafe is an initiative of the theatrical youth group "Dimiourgine" which consists of young people from the village, but also from the rest of the province of Famagusta. The goal of the cafe is to donate throughout the year, as all the net proceeds are donated to charity.
