At a time when the economy is creating fewer jobs and even fewer quality jobs, with the long-term unemployed accounting for half of total unemployment, the Ministry of Labor's Public Employment Service System is sinking under the burden of oversupply of workers. minimum employer demand.

A total of 5.748 candidates, most of them Cypriots, have posted their CVs on the Ministry of Labor's Internet System, compared to only the 519 available vacancies submitted by 418 employers (data as of October 14).

These data alone indicate the suffocating pressure on the labor market over the last three years.

The Internet System is addressed to three categories of citizens:

- To Cypriots and other European citizens

- Unemployed registered at the Employment Offices

- To employers who are looking for staff.

As the Ministry of Labor's Internet System is flooded with CVs and the prospects for the Cypriot economy and labor market recovery are bleak, seeking employment abroad is gaining ground, especially among young graduates.

In an effort of the Ministry of Labor EURES to help the unemployed and employed to explore employment opportunities abroad, it continues to organize open information days. This time it works with EURES Germany and focuses on jobs in the tourism-hotel industry. Specifically, the needs for staffing relate to the positions of: banker, cook, receptionist and other jobs related to the provision of services in tourism. Those interested should have at least six months of employment experience in the tourism-hotel industry. EURES Advisers from Germany will conduct on-site interviews with interested parties, which is why they are required to have their CVs in English or German. German advisers will also provide information on working and living conditions in their country.

Two information days will be held as follows:

- Next Thursday, November 20, at the Colden Bay Hotel in Larnaca

- Next Friday, November 21, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Limassol.

The update starts at 9.30 am.
