Giorgos Papaloizou took the lead in the battle for the title, as he was the big winner of the seventh motocross race that took place on the new track of Lake Paralimni, organized on Sunday, April 23 by the Club of Friends of Motorcycles in Famagusta.

Wheelchairs, falls and adrenaline rush were the main features of the race, which took place on a stunning track whose track is probably the most ideal for this type of race.

Competitively, starting with the MX1 category, the leader of the standings, George Papaloizou, was super, managing to win both hits of the standings and to be seconded to the standings. However, not everything was rosy as with the start of the first hit Papaloizou and Christos Tsangaras collided in the middle of the first round resulting in both falling. The reins were taken by Marinos Tsagaras who led the race for quite some time. From the last position, Papaloizou launched a big counterattack and shortly before the end he managed to pass to the first. A big fight for the second place took place between the two multi-champions, Marinos Tsangaras and Savva Savva, who remembered their own opponents when they were fighting for the championship. In the end, Tsagaras finished second and Savvas Savva third, with the co-contender for the title, Lambros Tsagaras, finishing fourth.

In the second hit, Papaloizou managed to stay away from adventures and taking the lead early managed to keep it until the end. The amazing Savvas Savvas finished second for another race and Lambros Tsagaras completed the first three. After yesterday's results, Papaloizou was 14 points away from the second Lambros Tsagaras (303 against 289) and has the first say in the title. Christos Tsagaras is still in third place in the standings, but he still feels the breath of Savvas Savvas, since the difference between them was reduced to 3 points.

In the MX2 category, Chrysanthos Georgiou found himself in a big day and managed to leave the lake victorious. In the first hit, Georgiou and Michalis Pampoukkas were really impressed, managing to pass even the riders of the MX1 category. The battles between them were shocking as they were constantly exchanged in the first place. Georgiou managed to lead the hit for a long time, but Pampoukkas reached the end again, as a result of which the battle for victory flared up again. Finally, after a very good ride, Georgiou got the victory, Pampoukkas finished second and Andreas Georgiou completed the first three. The result was exactly the same in the second hit, but without the battles we saw in the first.

In the standings, Michalis Pampoukkas is a breath away from the title as the difference from the second Andrea Georgiou is at 31 points and can hardly be covered. In third place is Marios Pampoukkas and fourth is George Varnanva.

Marios Mouskou runs without an opponent in the MX3 category. He may not have started well in the first hit, but he recovered early, finishing comfortably in first place. In the second hit, his dominance was even easier and now he is a hug with the championship. Neophytos Kanaris and Marinos Zintilis shared second and third place with Kanaris finishing second at the end of the day. Zintilis finished third and Konstantinos Theodorou fourth.

In the standings, the champion Marios Mouskou goes to the last match with an advantage of 37 points from the second Neophyto Kanari and apart from a shocking surprise, he will celebrate the championship. Konstantinos Theodorou is still in third place in the standings.

In MX3 OVER, the victory of George Sidereniou raised him second in the standings, while giving new interest to the category. Collect 50 points, reduce the difference from the top to 15 and everything will be judged in the last match. Giorgos Savva was also quite elevated, finishing second in the race, having a third and a second place in the two hits. Kosmas Vassileiou finished third in the race, finishing fourth in both hits.

In the standings, Nikiforos Kourris, despite finishing in fourth place, nevertheless still leads, while as mentioned above, George Siderenios came in second. The third Kosmas Vassilios, the fourth Artemis Karatsiolis and the fifth Giorgos Savvas share only 3 points and in the last fight shocking battles are expected.

The usual suspects in the MX4 category were the ones who starred in another race. Aristos Georgiou and Neophytos Tsagaras gave us another shocking battle in their quest for supremacy. In the first hit, the two of them fought wheel to wheel, with Tsagaras managing to get the victory, Georgiou finishing second and Kypros Karatzias completing the trio. Same protagonists in the second hit with Aristo Georgiou this time managing to win the hit and at the same time the match. Tsagaras finished second and Cyprus Karatzias completed the first three.

After the end of the first hit, the first three were punished by deducting points, as under the yellow flag regime they did not slow down and continued to move at a fast pace.

The situation at the top remained unchanged in the standings, with Aristos Georgiou still leading with 331 points against 313 of Neophytos Tsagaras. In third place is Adamos Manolis who did not compete yesterday.

Christos Kimitris was the big winner of the MX85 category. For another fight he fought hard with Victor Zacharias and managed at the end of the day to reduce the difference between them. He may have been the first to cross the finish line in the first hit, but the first place went to Zacharias as Kimitris in an unfortunate moment escaped a fall, but inadvertently cut his way, thus gaining an advantage. In the second hit he put his head down and after many battles he managed to pass Zacharias and win the match. Zacharias, on the other hand, had a fall, as a result of which he was reduced to third place. The Greek Aristodimos finished second, George Tsagaras fourth and Vryonis Vlasiou fifth.

In the standings, Viktoras Zacharia is still leading with 317 points, second is Christos Kimitris with 300 points and third is George Tsagaras with 265 points. In fourth and fifth place are Aristodemos Ellinas and Vryonis Vlasiou with 235 and 166 points respectively.

The MX65 category was also very interesting, where Antonis Georgiou literally managed to leave the winner. In the first hit, Dominik Kolokasis was the big winner, leaving Antonis Georgiou second and Spyros Yagkou third. The little ones kept the best for the end, as everything was judged literally in the last measure. Spyros Yagou managed to get a header, with Dominic Kolokasis following.

Antonis Georgiou was last after a fall, but he found the mental reserves to counterattack and in the straight before the finish to pass Gagou and Kolokasi, celebrating the victory furiously. Antonis Georgiou is always first in the standings with 274 points, second is Dominik Kolokasis with 261 and third is Spyros Giagkou with 223. They are followed by Konstantinos and Michalis Chrysostomou with 199 and 175 points respectively and the positions 6,7 and 8 are occupied by Kyriakos Pafitis, Nikos Karapittidis and Athos Athini.

The race on the new lake track was very good, leaving promises for even better ones in the future. There is still a lot of room for improvement in the facilities and when these are done with the new year then we will talk about a track of very high standards. The Famagusta Motorcycle Association did a very good job and as its leaders assured, they still have a lot to do.

All titles will be judged in the last race of the season, which will be held at the MXPRO track in Potamia on May 14. Stathis Efstathiou Photos: S&M PICS.
