Of particular concern to experts is a rift that has been created in recent weeks in Kenya and specifically in the Great Rift Valley.
The rift, 50 meters deep and 20 meters wide, was created two weeks ago and has made it impossible for vehicles or passers-by to cross the point.
Geologists say Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania and half of Ethiopia could be separated from the African continent in the next 50 million years and create a new continent.
The valley of the Great Rift stretches from Somalia to Mozambique.
"The valley has a history of tectonic plate movement and volcanic activity," geologist David Andelé told the Daily Nation.
"You can't stop a geological process as it is marked from the depths, the core of the Earth," he said.
Due to the rift, many families have been forced to flee their homes. "Staying here is like counting down until you die," said a 72-year-old woman.
As she said, one night her family was eating, when suddenly the Earth opened under their feet and their house was cut in two.
