A fundraiser will be held in all the holy temples of the Archdiocesan Region next Sunday, March 4, for the support of the Greek people, according to an announcement by the Archdiocese…

As mentioned, the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus in cooperation with the local parishes and other bodies, as well as other Holy Dioceses, have already sent large quantities of food and clothing to the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and other Dioceses, which are targeted at vulnerable groups, such as vulnerable groups. , our unemployed, homeless and elderly fellow human beings.

The product of next Sunday's fundraiser, along with a contribution from the Archdiocese, will be used to buy food for the Easter table of the troubled Greeks. "The goal is not to have a Greek family this Easter, which does not already have the necessary food for these holy days that we will celebrate."

The announcement also refers to a relevant circular of the Archbishop of Cyprus, Chrysostom II, which will be read next Sunday, where - among other things - he notes that the news for school children, the homeless, the unemployed, the elderly and retirees, who find it difficult to secure their daily food are really shocking.

"Admittedly, we are facing a great national tragedy, similar to which Greece did not live after the years of the German Occupation. And, as you understand, as a Church and as a Cypriot Hellenism we cannot, and it is not possible, to stand indifferent and apathetic. On the contrary, we have a Christian, but at the same time a national duty, to show, once again, our practical love for our motherland, which is being tested hard today, and to offer our wholehearted help and support to our suffering Greek brothers ".

The Archbishop, according to the circular, finally clarifies that the total proceeds of the fundraiser will be used to purchase food that will be sent to support the meals of the Archdiocese of Athens and other Dioceses.
