Before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta, Kallis Antoniou responded negatively to the accusations leveled against him by Thanasis Papanikolaou on behalf of the Prosecution Authority, for attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm of category D, use of firearm category D without a license, possession of explosives without a license and transport of explosives without a license.

Following this development, the Criminal Court set the start of the hearing for May 23, 2016. Until the start of the trial, Kallis Antoniou will be held in the Central Prison.

According to Giannis Polychronis, the 65-year-old's defense attorney, the list of 42 witnesses includes police officers, doctors from the General Hospitals of Famagusta, Larnaca and Nicosia and relatives of the victim and the alleged perpetrator.

It is recalled that on Monday, November 9, 2015, shortly before four in the afternoon, while Panagiotis Solomou was driving his tractor on a dirt road and was heading to his field behind the Avgorou Technical School, he was shot in the back.

The shot hit the 67-year-old in the back of the head, in the right shoulder and in the back.

Despite his injuries, Solomou managed to stop the tractor, got down and called his son, to whom he reported the incident and asked him to pick him up to take him to the hospital.

The 67-year-old told his son before he lost consciousness that "Kallis played with me", while according to the Police, Solomou also named the perpetrator of the shooting when he was at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

The victim's son went to the area where his father was, picked him up and transported him to the Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni, where the doctor on duty found that he had gunshot wounds to the right temple, as well as to the right shoulder.

The 65-year-old was arrested on the night of November 9 and when he was taken to the Detention Center of the Famagusta Police Department, he denied any involvement in the case, saying that he did not leave his house at all that day.
