After the guarantee machine recently received by the Municipality, seventy compressors will be delivered from May 15 to the owners of hotels and leisure centers participating in the program.
This was emphasized, among other things, in a meeting held today, Wednesday, March 30, at the Ayia Napa Municipal Palace, where an informative presentation was made to all stakeholders on the progress of the program so far, co-organized by Ayia Napa Municipality and the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture Development and Environment.
In his greeting which was read by the Deputy Mayor Mr. Vassos Xydias, the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos stressed, among other things, that with the full completion of the project and the receipt of all equipment, the goal set by the Municipality for reduction and separate sorting / collection of solids municipal waste will be achieved and will contribute to the maximum so that our city becomes an important ecological destination that will give it the right to claim in 2020 the title of "Green Capital of Europe".
The Director of the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Costas X ”Panagiotou, in his greeting referred to the benefits of the project for the Municipality but also to the achievement of the objectives that the state is obliged to achieve due to national and community legislation. .
Mr. X ”Panagiotou described his cooperation with the Municipality as excellent and assured that both the Department of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment will stand by the first steps of the project and will actively support all stakeholders. The Municipality said it will prepare an information campaign and its Department will offer training within the companies.
Then the Health Inspector of the Municipality presented in detail the project, its course so far, the goals set by the Municipality and the benefits it will gain from its implementation. The General Manager of Houtris Supremacy in Manufacturing, Mr. Giannis Houtris, spoke about the compressors, which will be given to their owners next May.
