The Government will promote a comprehensive adjustment of salaries and benefits of state and independent officials, with the aim of rationalizing and especially the correct hierarchy, based on a previous ministerial decision that called on the Minister of Finance to study the issue and submit proposals.

The changes will be made relatively soon as they will have to be approved by this House. This is because it will include an increase in the salaries of the deputies, who for several months had unanimously submitted their request to the executive branch.

The increase in MPs 'compensation will not be done in parts but as part of the overall rationalization of officials' salaries.

Beyond that, numbers have not been discussed so far. However, a competent source confirmed that the deputies will now have such compensation that they do not see the back, always on the payroll, of a bunch of high-ranking civil servants, something that is considered untestable and is understood by the Ministry of Finance.

At the moment, the deputies receive a net of about 3.950 euros per month and are ranked very low among the officials, while if they were in the public sector they would be essentially between the A13 and A14 scales, having at least 3 other scales above them.

A top source who wished to remain anonymous fully confirmed the information, saying characteristically that “at the moment there is a heterogeneity and inhomogeneity in the salaries of state and independent officials, both in comparison with each other and mainly in comparison with their earnings in the public sector. ”.

This is the heterogeneity that the Ministry wants to address and it will concern all the officials, with the adjustments being both up and down in some cases.

The Department of Public Administration and Personnel has already prepared the list / hierarchy of positions and has forwarded it to the Minister of Finance from whom he expects further instructions.

It has been reported to us from the environment of Haris Georgiadis that in the coming weeks, the Minister will address the issue and there will be developments with the footnote that any changes will have an imperceptible budgetary impact. That is, confirming that we will have changes both upwards and downwards.
