Al-Shabab militants today attacked a hotel in the Somali capital, Bosso, in the semi-autonomous Pudland region, killing four guards. Two of the gunmen are also dead, according to a senior official.

"Three al-Shabab fighters attacked the International Village Hotel this morning. "Four guards and two of the gunmen were killed in the exchange of gunfire," said Yusuf Mohammed, the local governor.

"Fortunately, the attackers did not manage to reach the hotel rooms. The battle took place inside the hotel complex. A third gunman escaped and we are looking for him. "Everyone at the hotel is safe," he said.
