Ayia Napa: Egyptian jumps off balcony to escape police

Ayia Napa Police are investigating rape cases with the aim of carrying out cubic and illegal possession and use of drugs.

According to the Police, around 23:40 on Friday night, members of OPE Famagusta, YKAN Famagusta and the Police Stations of Paralimni and Ayia Napa, carried out a search, by court order, in a 42-year-old apartment, located in Ayia Napa.

As police entered the apartment, eight people aged 24, 32, 35, 37, 42, 50 and 54 were found indulging in cubes. Also found were two other people aged 34 and 46 who allegedly gathered in order to conduct a cubism.

In fact, as soon as the Police entered the apartment, a person while trying to escape jumped from the balcony of the apartment located on the first floor, as a result of which he hit the ground and was injured.

Police investigations revealed that the injured is a 22-year-old student from Egypt who is a student.

An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the injured to the Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni, where the doctors on duty found that he had suffered a fractured right heel and was being held for treatment.

During the police investigation, a pack of cigarettes containing green gram cannabis weighing 4 grams was found on the table. A smoked handmade cigarette with green cannabis plant material was also found and during interrogation the 50-year-old admitted that it was his and he smoked the cigarette during his stay in the apartment.

A subsequent search of the apartment turned up and confiscated by the Police as evidence the amount of 9,450 euros, 384 poke binders along with a binder case, 163 playing cards, eight plastic chairs, two plastic tables and a table with green felt.

The 50-year-old and the 42-year-old owner of the apartment were arrested and detained to facilitate the interrogations, while around 12 noon today they were fired. The other people were charged in writing to be summoned later.

The Agia Napa Police Station is investigating the case.
