The announced one-hour pan-Cypriot work stoppage of the Municipal staff will take place from 11:00 to 12:00 in protest of the situation in which the Local Government has fallen.

According to an announcement of the trade unions OHO-SEK and SIDIKEK-PEO, in each District in the metropolitan Municipality there will be a central District event which will be attended by a number of Mayors.

Both Organizations report that there is an unjustified delay in promoting the reform, so the urgent financial problems of the municipalities must be addressed immediately, especially some whose situation is tragic, noting that the financial problems and the understaffing of the Municipalities that followed, as a result of the measures of the memorandum, created significant operational problems that prevent the uninterrupted service of the Citizens in essential services such as garbage collection and consider unacceptable the promoted policy, in terms of number of Municipalities, for uncontrolled purchase of services for the performance of basic activities.

They warn, at the same time, that in no case will they accept "procrastination and will not adopt the timidity of the State, Government and Parliament", as they are sure that it will be directed against the employees and consequently the Citizens who will not receive in time and effective quality services.
