The Chairman of the Committee, Takis Hadjidimitriou, stated to KYPE that with them, as today, will be the Cypriot architect, responsible designer who represents the team of the University of Patras, which had prepared the restoration plan of the Monastery, Diomidis Myriantheas.
Mr. Hadjidimitriou stated that today's visit to the occupied monastery was made by all members of the Commission, accompanied by Mr. Myriantheas and the advisor of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Kudret Ozersai, who was duly informed about the condition of the Monastery. "It was the first step in implementing the decision we took as a Commission to get involved in the maintenance of the Monastery."
All parts of the monastery continued to be visited.
Asked when the work will begin, Mr. Hadjidimitriou said that "it is too early to say." Asked what the next step would be, he replied "in consultation with UNDP" on the procedures to be followed. Bids will be announced, which will be approved by UNDP, as he explained, and it will be necessary to clarify for which stages in the current period the bids will be requested.
