However, the four leaders are expected to clear up the shadows left over from their previous meeting and, unexpectedly, extend a few days to complete the process.
On Tuesday, DIKO, EDEK and EUROKO took specific decisions, of which the common component is the "commitment" of the parties to the efforts made to contract cooperation.
But beyond that, things get complicated. The most important question that arises is whether the Joint Declaration will be negotiable or not for reasons of flexibility on the part of the candidate for alliances with other parties (AKEL).
In this regard, there was a double reading of the previous decision of the four parties.
On the one hand, DIKO argued that the candidate can be flexible to the extent necessary to be able to gain the support of another party (AKEL), on the other hand, the other parties were perpendicular to this, that the candidate will be flexible. to the extent that not a single yacht will be revoked by the Joint Declaration.
This point is expected to be clarified during Wednesday's meeting.
The names
The main issue, however, remains the name of the person who will lead the effort. As a result, strong disagreements are forming.
The President of DIKO will put on the table the name of Christos Mavrellis (read here which two conditions Mr. Mavrellis sets). A name, however, which, according to information, is not accepted by EDEK but it remains unknown whether EUROCO agrees to discuss it or not.
The President of EDEK will return to the dialogue of the four the names of the two persons that he submitted in the previous meeting. That is, George Lillikas and Mario Iliadis. At the same time, the name of Mr. Homer may be submitted.
Dimitris Syllouris is expected to submit three names. George Lillikas, Giannaki Matsi and Ouranio Ioannidis. The decision for the three names was unanimous in EUROCO. The President of the party will not mention the name of Mr. Christodoulos, who in the meantime clarified that he is not interested, nor the name of Eleni Theocharous.
Ecologists are not expected to submit any names.
In fact, the candidacy of Mr. Lillikas is the most prevalent, since the name of the specific candidate is in the list of two parties and with the Ecologists not being negative. However, things may change if EUROCO agrees to discuss the name of Mr. Mavrellis.
Extension of a few days
Given the decision of DIKO to submit only one name and then Marios Karoyan will have to consult again with the collective bodies of his party in case there is no unanimity in the name that will be proposed by DIKO, an extension of the process by of the four parties is considered beyond possible.
In fact, according to information from "K", EDEK will put a proposal on it for drawing up a specific timetable for the completion of the process. It is estimated that the extension will cover a few days, within the first 10 days of June.
