In a written announcement of the three Mayors "they welcome the start of the project" Kokkinokremmos "which will solve the water supply problem of the free province of Famagusta, which existed for decades".

It is added that "we see another of the announcements of the President of the Republic for our province being implemented and it is important for us and for the citizens to see the announcements being implemented. The specific project will solve the important problem of the water supply reserves of the area since the Province of Famagusta after the implementation of the project will have water reserves of 48 hours, in contrast to only 4 hours that it has today ".

The three Mayors expressed "thanks to the government and especially to the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment who acknowledged the problem of water supply and the problems that existed and guided the necessary procedures to resolve the problem."

The announcement also states that "the project aims to meet the water supply needs in the areas of free Famagusta (Ayia Napa, Paralimni, Deryneia and Sotira) and to improve the reliability of the drinking water supply system in both tourist areas and other communities of Kokkinochoria ».

It adds that "on March 18, the Department of Water Development announced the tender for the project, which is estimated to cost 1.6 million euros plus VAT and with a one-year implementation schedule."

Within 2016, the Department of Water Development is expected to announce a tender for the final design of the main water pipeline from the Dhekelia Desalination Unit to the construction site of the tanks on the hill "Kokkinokremmos" with a total length of 26 km with a total estimated 17 million euro.
