The greeting of the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Kadis:

It is with great pleasure that I attend today the inauguration ceremony of the First Public Kindergarten of Avgoros. Every time a modern educational building is completed, we feel special joy, because we provide our children with the best conditions for their education and the opportunity to coexist and create in a beautiful and safe school environment.

The kindergarten that we are inaugurating today is an important project of educational infrastructure, for the construction of which all the contributors are worthy of congratulations. The Avgoros School Ephorate, the Parents' Association, the teachers and the children of the Kindergarten should, without a doubt, feel proud, because they now have at their disposal a real jewel, with all the modern facilities, the utilization of which upgrades as much as possible degree the education and training provided to our children.

Construction of this project began in September 2012 and was completed a year later. The kindergarten was located in such a way as to fully meet the needs of children, while its facilities ensure proper operation and at the same time provide easy access to public areas. The building includes two Classrooms, Office of the Director and Staff, Special Training Room, Storage, Kitchen, Bathroom, covered terrace and Playground, equipped with modern games of European standards.

Pedagogical perceptions and research data of the last decades recognize the value and importance of Pre-Primary Education, which focuses on the first educational experiences of the child, in the first years of his life, which are the most crucial for the development and shaping of his personality and, more generally, the foundation of his education.

The state, recognizing the importance of Pre-primary Education and in full harmonization with the trends and perceptions prevailing in Europe, has implemented, since September 2004, a program of Compulsory and Free Pre-primary Education.

Within the framework of this policy, the upgrading of the existing buildings continues, but also the construction of modern kindergartens, in order to respond positively to the modern educational needs of the children and to the current European standards.

On this occasion I would like to warmly congratulate the Management and the staff of the school for the important work they perform for the benefit of all without exception the children who attend the Primary School of Avgorou. To you, our little and dear friends, who with your presence give life to the School, I wish you health, happiness and all the best. I'm sure you love your school and have a good time here, learning many useful things. I also congratulate the School Ephorate and the Parents' Association for the support they provide in the daily operation of the school and I assure you that the Ministry of Education and Culture will continue to support your work and efforts.
