Hurricane Debbie, which wreaked havoc in northeastern Australia, hit New Zealand today, causing both roadblocks and landslides.
The cyclone hit areas of New Zealand that are trying to repair the damage caused by a strong earthquake, last November, while the Meteorological Service warns of heavy rain for several days. Many areas will receive a month's rainfall within the next 24 hours.
Hurricane "Debbie" is a category "4", one unit away from the cyclones "5" which are considered the most powerful, while last week it hit Queensland, Australia.
