"Business transactions have no place in solitary confinement"

Statement by Archbishop Chrysostom on the case of Ephraim.

Clergy and monks must be very careful and must remain in the ecclesiastical and solitary contexts, "where business dealings have no place," said Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.

Answering journalists' questions about the case of Abbot Ephraim, Mr. Chrysostomos also said that "there should be no smuggling", in his words, with politicians.

The Archbishop of Cyprus wished the adventure of Elder Ephraim to end soon, since, as he mentioned, he is not happy for anyone to see an abbot in the prison cell.
