According to tradition, this marble comes from the tomb of Christ and dates back to 180 AD.
The Achranta Passions are kept in the Holy Monastery of the Greatest Brigadiers of Aigialeia and Kalavrita in Greece and were transported to Cyprus by Metropolitan Vresthenis Theoklitos, where they were received in a special ceremony by Metropolitan Trimithous Barnabas.
The Achranta Passions, coming for the first time in Cyprus, will remain in the Diocese of Trimithountos for worship until Thursday, March 22.
According to tradition, the Achranta Passions, kept in the Holy Monastery of the Greatest Brigadiers of Aigialeia, were given to the founder of the Monastery, Saint Leontios by his two blood relatives, despots of the Peloponnese, Thomas and Demetrios Paleologos, in 1450, to honor his virtues and his persistent efforts for the spiritual upliftment of the Monastery.
