The Speaker of the House of Representatives Giannakis Omirou returned today from Greece, where he had meetings with the Greek Prime Minister Loukas Papademos, the Greek Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Greek Parliament, who briefed them on the course of the Cyprus issue and exchanged views with them. 

Speaking at Larnaca airport, Mr. Omirou said that during the meetings he had expressed the support of the House of Representatives to the effort made by Greece to overcome the current unfavorable economic situation and get back on the path of progress and of social cohesion.

"A strong Greece is a precondition for its coexistence with the Cypriot Hellenism, in the struggle we continue to wage 38 years after the invasion and continued occupation, to end the occupation and restore the human rights and freedoms of our people," he said. .

Mr. Omirou thanked, as he mentioned, the political leadership of Greece for the full support it provides to the struggle of the Cypriot people for freedom, justification and its support with the efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem.
