Particularly good seems to be the relationship of Greeks with the Internet, since according to a survey by Focus on Tech Life, 68,6% make daily use of the Internet. Specifically, 77,6% of Greeks surf the Internet with any frequency, while 31,5%, ie 1 in 3 stated that they visit social media on a daily basis. It is worth noting here that at the ages of 13-34 this percentage reaches 50%.
In addition, the average time that Greek users remain connected to the Internet reaches 191 minutes. Specifically, at the ages of 18-24 this time reaches 4 hours a day, while at the ages 65-74 the average duration is 2 hours.
Regarding the use of mobile phones, 2 out of 3 Greeks, ie 68,3%, have a smartphone, while 9 out of 10 of them are aged 13-24. The survey also shows that 48,4% of Greeks choose to connect to the Internet via their mobile phone, while at the age of 18-24 this percentage is double and specifically 85,5%.
In addition, 45,2% of respondents, ie 1 in 2 Greeks, said that they download various applications on their mobile phone, with the most popular being those related to social networking (31,5%), maps and travel (22,4%). ), games (22,2%), music and videos (20,8%) and information (18,7%). Continuing with the findings of the research, 2 out of 3 households, ie 67,7% have access to the Internet, to which they connect either through their mobile phone (58,3%), or through laptop (49,9%), or via their desktop computer (35%).
In addition, the survey shows that 1 in 4 households - and specifically 916.000 - have pay-TV packages.
In households with 4 members and more, the possession of pay-TV reaches 30,6%. Regarding the relationship of children with the Internet, 7 out of 10 Greek children, ie 70,5%, who attend kindergarten and primary school use the Internet. The penetration for ages 10-12 is significantly higher, as this percentage reaches 84,1%.
The 3 most popular devices that children use to surf the Internet are tablets (30,1%), laptops (24,8%) and desktops (21,9%).
Finally, and according to the survey, 1 in 6 children has a mobile phone (17,2%). Specifically, the 3,2% who have a mobile phone device are aged 6-9 years, while this percentage is significantly higher at the age of 10-12 years, since it reaches 35,5%. The Focus on Tech Life survey was conducted in the period October-December 2016.
