Sotira looks forward to tourism development
Our Municipality is applying for the creation of a casino in Sotira, on the occasion of the creation of the Ayia Napa marina, which will border its beach in the area of Agia Thekla…
In his statements to "FILELEFTHERO" the Mayor George Ttakkas stated, on the eve of developments for the big project in Ayia Napa, that Sotira is entitled and will dynamically claim a share in the tourist development, while with the utilization of the beach of Agia Thekla, the Famagusta province in the future will have a fertile coastal tourist coastline from the Liopetri River to the Kapparis.
He also stressed that the Ayia Napa marina, as well as other projects, must be promoted in the province of Famagusta in order to provide jobs and increase its economic activity, as Famagusta unfortunately remains the poor relative in development in recent years. in relation to other areas of the island.
He also stated that regarding his municipality, given the crisis and the cut of a significant part of the state sponsorship in the municipalities, projects of inefficient financial performance will remain for the future while projects that will bring economic and social benefits to the citizens and the municipality will be promoted. . He also said that especially for the second football stadium, which is planned in Sotira, the project will be promoted only if and if the project is declared a regional stadium in Kokkinochoria, in order to ensure greater state sponsorship.
Mr. Ttakkas also stated that the municipal council has set up a committee, which will examine one by one the operating expenses of the municipality, with the aim of reducing them, so that the municipality can financially meet its obligations, through the new difficult financial environment.
In his statements, Ttakkas expressed his protest as mayor of the province of Famagusta because the state will apparently leave this summer without replacing the road pulp at almost 13 kilometers of the Larnaca - Ayia Napa highway. A material that causes driving problems, on the road used by most tourists who visit the island.
We would expect, he concluded, after the issue was occupied and a session of the Parliament, that the minimum sensitivity for taking measures of this traffic anomaly in our region, the most important tourist area of Cyprus, would be demonstrated.
