The effort will take place tomorrow Sunday 27 September at five in the afternoon in the port car park along the seafront promenade in Ayia Napa.
Speaking to KYPE, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, said that "the effort we started a few years ago to classify Ayia Napa in the Guinness Book of Records with sirtaki, Kalamatian, Russian dance kalinga and zorba, continues this year with zeibek ».
He added that "the reason that the zeibekiko of" Evdokia "has been chosen is because it is one of the most famous in Cyprus and Greece and has been danced by thousands of people at various events around the world".
Mr. Karousos expressed his warm thanks "to those who declared their participation and support the whole effort of the Municipality of Ayia Napa. We expect that those who will attend tomorrow's event will be impressed by the presentation, since this effort aims to promote abroad both Ayia Napa and the free area of Famagusta and our Cyprus in general ".
Besides, Maria Ttofini Tsantila, head of the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, stated that "the participations have reached 850 people. The Guinness record has given a minimum participation of 250 people, with 850 we have already broken the record, however the dancers will have to follow the steps as the choreography is and with the music for five consecutive minutes ".
He added that "we must follow the terms of the Guinness Book of World Records, in the presence of lawyers. The dancers will be uniformly dressed, in jeans, they will be given a white T-shirt with the logo of the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Guinness record, they will have a blue scarf around their neck also with the logo of the Municipality and Guinness. The dance teachers, according to the terms of the Organization, should be in front of their group, will have a red scarf and will be at a slightly higher point than their dancers ".
The event, which is under the auspices of the Secretary of the Council of Ministers Theodosi Tsiola, will also be attended by the Vice President of the CTO Costas Koumis, the Mayors of the Famagusta Free Zone and other officials.
The world-famous dancer of Shakira and Rihanna, Yanet Fuentes, will also attend and try to dance the steps of the zeibek from the official podium.
