The official celebrations of the Municipality of Sotira started on Tuesday, October 27, with the Pandemic Celebration of the National Anniversary of "NO".
The event, which took place at the Municipal Theater of Sotira, was addressed by the Vice President of the Democratic Alarm and Member of Parliament for the province of Famagusta, Mr. Sotiris Sampson.
In his speech, Mr. Sampson praised the sacrifices of the war heroes against the Axis powers and stressed that the same values and ideals should inspire the current generation to defend our patriarchal homes.
The President of the Culture Committee of the Municipality of Sotira, Mrs. also addressed a greeting. Florence Savva and the Mayor Sotiras, Mr. George Takkas.
The event continued with an artistic program by the adult section of the Sotiras Catechism Traditional Dance Laboratory and by the Sotiras Municipal Choir.
The former Director of the Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus and current member of the Public Service, Mr. Panagiotis Antoniou, addressed the solemn eulogy that took place at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Wednesday, October 28.
A trishagio followed and the laying of wreaths at the Monument of the Fallen and Missing Savior.
The celebrations culminated with the traditional parade held on Makarios Avenue III, which was attended by the educational institutions of Sotira, the Catechism Meetings and the band of the Catechism Meetings Sotira, which represented the Municipality of Sotiris and Paramos in the province.
