Nicosia-Larnaca in 15 minutes

The techno-economic study for the creation of fixed train tracks between Nicosia-Limassol, Nicosia-Larnaca, Limassol-Larnaca and Limassol-Paphos has been in the hands of the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Public Works for a few weeks now.

This study, which falls within the framework of the studies of the European Union and the Trans-European Transport Network Fund, was commissioned by private researchers and demonstrates whether such a project is viable for Cyprus.
According to information, in the third or fourth week of June, Greek researchers are expected in Cyprus, who will present their study and the Ministry of Transport will be called to make decisions.

According to the same sources, the study shows that the only viable line should be considered the one that will connect Nicosia with Larnaca, due to the airport.

Once the government says the final yes to the train, it can be considered a fact ten years later. The income for the state only from this line will amount to € 60.000.000 per year.

As unbelievable as it sounds, in case it is decided to cover other cities, the distance Nicosia-Paphos will be almost zero since the journey will last only 30 minutes, while Nicosia-Larnaca less than 15 minutes.

In addition, the benefits of reducing pollution and significantly improving the quality of life of citizens will be enormous.
