The initiatives for the immediate sale of agricultural products that seek to eliminate intermediaries and aim at the cheapest possible prices, with profit for both consumers and producers, are being expanded…

After the move for distribution of cheap potatoes that took place in Katerini, the baton was taken in Attica this time, by the municipality of Pallini, which started collecting orders for distribution of cheap potatoes in Nevrokopi, without intermediaries. According to the Municipality of Pallini, the society can organize itself, since the state cannot control the situation. The crisis brought the need for cheap products with the result that the tendency to find ways and organize distribution not only cheap potatoes but also other products such as Cretan olive oil, raisins, vegetables, legumes, rice and flour, without intermediaries seems to be gaining momentum in all of Greece.

Initiatives to abolish intermediaries who overcharged the prices of goods, with the result that the consumer pays the product very expensively and the producer receives a humiliating price, are spread throughout Greece.

Similar moves are already being made in Veria, Volos, Drama, Larissa, Thessaloniki.

The difference in prices from the producer to the shelves of the supermarkets is huge, if one considers that the olive oil is bought by the producer at 1,70 euros per liter and is sold to the consumer at 10 euros per liter.

The goal is for the movement to expand and become permanent, with a guarantee of quality and price.
