The University of Cyprus has launched a campaign to promote Cypriot products with the slogan "I buy Cypriot".According to an announcement by the University, the campaign started with the creation of the website www.ucy.ac.cy/buycypriot and aims to inform the more than eight thousand members of the university community and the twelve thousand graduates, about the Cypriot products.
In a time of economic crisis, in days when the unemployment rate is rising dangerously, with young people as the first victims - inevitably among them graduates of the University of Cyprus - each of us should, says the Rector of the University of Cyprus Professor Konstantinos Christofidis, makes its own effort to save as many jobs as possible.
"The period we are going through must be characterized by social solidarity and actions aimed at social cohesion. For example, if each of us bought Cypriot products, in essence, it would create a brake on rising unemployment. If each of us buys Cypriot products then we can hope that we will not reach the levels of the other European south. And when the purchase of Cypriot products is impossible, for various and varied reasons, then let us put as a priority to buy Greek products "is added.
The promotion campaign of Cypriot products will be supported by actions, such as holding product exhibitions, as well as other promotional activities.
The public is welcome to bring to the attention of the Communication Office of the University of Cyprus any Cypriot product with the aim of promoting it at 22894367 or at prinfo@ucy.ac.cy.
