The contracts for the start of the first part of the AD Phase of regeneration of the coastal front of Ayia Napa, were signed yesterday Monday, October 17 between the successful bidder, the Department of Urban Planning and Housing and the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
A written announcement states that "Phase A, which is expected to start in early November, will cover a distance of about 1500 meters from the parking lot in the port of Ayia Napa to Pernera beach. The first part of the AD Phase includes 2 playgrounds / playgrounds flower garden with endemic flora (trees and plants of the area), docks and platforms to and into the sea for public access to water, urban equipment, ie benches, waste baskets, fountains drinking water, shelters and changing rooms / toilets ".
Then the second part of the AD Phase will be launched, which includes "nature observatories, courts with international standards for beach volley, beach soccer and skate park, parking along the entire project where there is access to and from the existing road network and public showers ".
According to the announcement, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, stated that "the project is the largest urban project we claimed and won, which was included among the development projects announced by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis for the Province of Famagusta in August 2015. The announcement includes both Phases of the project, the total cost of which will amount to 6.5 million euros, ie 3,5 million Phase A and 3 million Phase B ".
He noted that "with this project we will properly connect almost all our beaches and create a unique coastal front, which will be a place of movement, social activity, entertainment and sports. We believe that the project will play an important role in enriching the experience of our visitors and the tourist product of the region in general, both during the summer and winter season ".
Christakis Tziovannis, on behalf of the company Giovanni Developers, which undertakes the construction of the project, stated that "this is a project that will highlight the area and compared to its cost will put a huge emphasis on Ayia Napa. There is previous experience, since there have been two phases in the area of Paralimni - Protaras with very positive results ".
Besides, Charalambos Iakovou, Architect / Engineer in the Department of Urban Planning and Housing and coordinator of the project stated that “this is a large-scale development project that concerns the aesthetic upgrade of the coastal front. It will be a place accessible to all groups of people and is designed in such a way as to be environmentally friendly and to highlight the natural beauties of the area ".
