The training of the staff of the Famagusta Fire Station, which took place this morning at the hotel unit in Ayia Napa, as part of the annual basic training, was attended by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos.
In a statement, the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that the scenario of the exercise included the rescue of three people from the hotel floors, a rescue from the roof and firefighting in a room on the 2nd floor and the Pool Bar.
As stated by the Head of the Famagusta Fire Station, Lt. Christos Papanikolas, the purpose of the exercise is to see on the one hand the readiness of the staff and on the other the difficulties from such incidents
Mr. Karousos congratulated the Administration and the staff of the Fire Station both for the successful outcome of the exercise and for the continuous education and training of the staff.
"It is not at all accidental", he added, "that the fire brigade of our province is always on standby and faces difficult incidents, in most cases, with very positive results".
