The contracts were signed on behalf of the Municipality of Ayia Napa by the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos and Mr. Nikos Mesaritis on behalf of the architectural office Polytia Armos. The object of the project is the preparation of study and supervision of the project of Regeneration of the Road Network of the Urban Center of Ayia Napa in order to highlight the Urban Center of Ayia Napa in universally accessible-Ecological-Cultural-Cultural with a sustainable character, promoting the whole experience.
After the signing of the contracts, the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos characterized as important the current development which, as he said, marks the beginning of the planning of the Urban Center of Ayia Napa. "The city center has added to us in recent years, it presents a picture of intense degradation and abandonment and Tefkrou Anthia Street, which in the year 2000 was the most central commercial artery of the city, has now declined."
The proposed project stated "it is part of the strategic planning of the Municipality and it is necessary to be done in order for the area to survive and to attract both permanent residents and visitors to stop the withering of the center. The improvement of public spaces will give impetus to the development of entrepreneurship. We want to give identity and character to our center and turn it into a center of experience which will be accessible, hospitable and sustainable ".
According to Mr. Karousos, the planning will start from the road of Agia Mavri, which is also from the core of the central area, by extension of the Monastery.
It is noteworthy that the contractor Polytia Armos and its Architects Nikos Mesaritis and Georgia Loizou have studied and executed such projects throughout Cyprus as the Paphos coastal front, the ongoing project of the area between the Marina and the new Port of Leos. , which has been approved by the Municipality, Agios Lazaros Square and the Castle Square in Larnaca, the core of the Community of Kiti and others.
