The police see a "targeted attack" on the Dortmund mission

Multiple explosions occurred shortly after the departure of the bus that was to transport the Borussia Dortmund football team from the hotel to the stadium, where the match against French Monaco was to take place.

It is clear that whoever set off the explosions in Dortmund, intended to cause damage to the football team, since the City Police spoke of a completely targeted attack, but without any confidence so far in the scenario of a terrorist act.

Dortmund Police Chief Gregor Lange, in a press conference he shared with prosecutor Sandra Luke, clarified that the attack was aimed at the mission of Thomas Tuchel's team.

"Three explosive devices were detonated in an area near the hotel where the team was staying before the game and from which area the coach would pass to the stadium. Dortmund was the target, but we still cannot speak with certainty about a terrorist act. "A letter was also found at the site and is being checked for authenticity," Lange said.

According to the police, there were three explosions on a street in the Hexten district of Dortmund, which hit the coach of the German team.

According to information from Spiegel magazine, which cites circles of security authorities, it was a targeted attack on the Dortmund bus. According to this information, the explosive devices were probably placed on the side of the road in a bunch of bushes. After the incident, the players' mission was first transferred back to the hotel and then the players returned to their homes.
