Paralimni: They stole a shotgun and set fire to a tire store

A case of burglary and theft of a DOKO shotgun and arson is being investigated by the Police in Paralimni, after the complete destruction by a fire of a tire shop in Paralimni.

As the spokesman of the Famagusta Police Directorate, Andreas Konstantinou, stated to KYPE, "we are investigating a case of burglary and theft of a DOKO shotgun and arson. The weapon is owned by the 51-year-old owner of a tire shop in Paralimni, which was completely destroyed today in the early hours of the morning by a fire that may have been set maliciously ".

He added that today men from the Police, the Fire Brigade and the Electromechanical Service went to the scene, on Protaras Avenue in Paralimni and collected various items which will be sent for the necessary scientific examinations.

Investigations revealed that the perpetrators entered through the west window of the store, which was found open.

He also said that the tire shop was not covered by insurance and so far the damages from the fire have not been calculated.

It is recalled that around 02.55 in the morning a fire broke out in a tire store located on Protaras Avenue in Paralimni, owned by a 51-year-old man from Paralimni. The store had tires, machinery and various other tools while members of the Famagusta Fire Department managed to extinguish the fire.

The store did not have an alarm system and closed circuit monitoring installed.

The Paralimni Police Station continues the examinations.
