Free Famagusta is ready for the municipal elections

There will be 72 polling stations in the free district of Famagusta, with 31.641 registered voters. Of these, a polling station in Liopetri will operate for 96 displaced voters in Nicosia and for 12 voters in Kyrenia. A total of 913 community members will vote in the province of Famagusta… 

Voting will begin at 12 am until XNUMX noon. There will then be an hour break and voting will resume at one o'clock in the afternoon until six in the afternoon when the election process will be completed.

The 31.052 displaced registered voters - citizens of the occupied city of Famagusta are invited to elect their new Municipal Council. The 26 positions of municipal councilors are claimed by 67 candidates, a total of seven combinations submitted by the parties AKEL, DISY, DIKO, EDEK, European Party and the Movement of Environmentalists.

A total of 74 polling stations for the Municipality of Famagusta will operate in all provinces. Most of the polling stations will be in Limassol, with a total of 30 polling stations for the 12.515 registered Famagusta voters living in Limassol.

In the province of Larnaca for the 9.789 voters from Varos there will be 22 polling stations, in Nicosia for the 4.385 voters there will be 10 polling stations, in Eleftheri Famagusta for the 3.254 voters 10 polling stations and two polling stations in Paphos for the 1.109 registered voters.

In the Municipality of Paralimni the 8.092 voters will exercise their right to vote in 15 polling stations, in Ayia Napa for the 2.684 voters 5 polling stations will operate, in Deryneia in 8 polling stations 3,667 voters will vote while another 4 polling stations will operate , one by one in the other provinces.

In Sotira the 3.542 voters will go to 7 polling stations. For the Municipality of Lysis with 5,191 voters, 14 polling stations will operate throughout Cyprus, the Municipality of Lefkonikos with 2,096 voters, 7 polling stations and for the Municipality of Akanthou with 1,273 voters, 5 polling stations throughout Cyprus.

The candidates running for the post of Mayor are two for the Municipalities of Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Deryneia, Lysis, Akanthos and Sotira.

Alexis Galanos in Famagusta and Michalis Pelikos in Lefkonikos have already been announced as the only candidates for the position of Mayor.

In the Communities of the free area of ​​Famagusta (Achnas, Avgorou Liopetri, Frenaros and Acheritou) elections will be held for the position of Common Leader and for the positions of Members of the Community Councils.

Regarding the occupied communities of the Province of Famagusta, elections will be held for the election of community leaders and members of community councils in 8 eight communities, namely Agastina, Gialousa, Gypsou, Kalopsida, Limnia, Mandres, Pigi and Parish of Agia Triada Rio.

Elections will be held in nine 9 communities to elect only community leaders: Agios Georgios Spathariko, Arnadi, Aphania, Vathilaka, Genagra, Milia, Prastio and Anavrysi Parish of Rizokarpasos.

The only polling stations that will be counted in our Province of Famagusta are: Limnia, Gialousa, Mandres, Kalopsida, Parish of the Holy Trinity of Rizokarpasos.

The polls for the other villages and for the occupied Nicosia and Kyrenia will be transferred to Nicosia for counting.

Finally, prisoners from Paralimni, Sotira, Avgorou and Frenaros will vote in the Prisons and their ballots will be transferred to the respective villages to be counted along with the rest.
