The maintenance works of the church of the Holy Cross in the occupied Karpasia began. The work, which will be completed by the end of August, is fully funded by the EU at a cost of 34,700 euros.

According to an announcement, the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage, the European Commission and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announce the start of maintenance work on the Holy Cross Church, which is one of the three religious heritage sites of the Maronites selected by the Technical Commission for maintenance work under the EU-funded UNDP program entitled "Support to monuments of great importance to the communities of Cyprus"

The other two monuments of the Maronites are the ancient church of Agios Georgios in Kormakitis (the works were completed in October 2015) and the Church of Agia Marina (in the process of offers).

Maintenance work will include, among other things, general cleaning of the church, replacement of the metal gutters, removal of the plaster, painting of the stone surface on the walls, repair of the stone bell tower, replacement of the damaged stones and maintenance of the frescoes.
