The "Apostolos Pavlos" Center operates as a Day Center, accommodating people with mental retardation, mobility disabilities and other accompanying problems, over the age of 18 from all over the province of Famagusta.
The purpose of the Center is the healthy employment of people, the development of personal, social and professional skills, the avoidance of any form of institutionalization or social isolation, their care and safety and in general to offer a better quality of life for people with disabilities. ¨
It is important to mention that there are five laboratories that are actively involved, in each individual, small number of food of the Center.
The workshops are:
a) recycling,
b) carpentry,
c) basket weaving,
d) sewing and
e) bakery.
We also provide special education services, speech therapy, music therapy, physiotherapy, physical education, ju jitsu and painting.
In addition to the educational, entertainment and other programs it provides to its inmates at the Center, there are two houses in the community of Liopetri, in which 7 people live permanently.
It also maintains an employment program based in the free province of Famagusta, which promotes and enhances the vocational rehabilitation of people with fewer employment opportunities.
However, at the moment the Center is facing serious difficulties and needs many changes since the building dates back to 1989. In general, there is a great need for reconstruction of the building, for new facilities and the space needs to be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and special needs. Needs.
Specifically, the needs of the Center today are as follows:
• Need for bus replacement
• Exterior yard configuration (eg ramps needed).
• Reconstruction of building installations (eg change of toilets and bathrooms).
• Development of new facilities (see photo - metal devices to which all the laboratories of the Center will be transferred)
The needs of the Center are many and certainly not all can be met. Therefore any financial support is significant and valuable.
