Transfer of AXIK to the province of Famagusta

By Kostas Koumis,
Vice President of CTO, candidate of DISY Famagusta

It is time to adopt a language pure for the good of our Province, without ample doses of diplomacy queues and footnotes.

Having heard that the government is now considering the possibility of moving AXIK out of the capital, I think it is time as a Province to join forces to claim something that for many reasons should already be operating in the Province of Famagusta, the top Province of tourism.

We ask for the obvious:

The transfer of the Higher Hotel Foundation of the country to the Province of Famagusta, to the Province that held high the flag of tourism after the occupation of the city of Famagusta, to the Province that holds 47% of the's nights nationwide.

I am of the opinion that AXIK, which is admittedly in decline, should have moved out of the capital many years ago, since a completely tourist school should operate without a second thought in a tourist Province for obvious reasons.

Today, who disputes that the full integration of a tourism school into a society that lives and breathes at least half for tourism will not have multiplier benefits for the school itself, its students, the local economy and the local community?

Who disputes that the operation of a tourism school in a tourist Province will be a first-class opportunity for the employment of qualified students / graduates in tourism companies? Who disputes that the relocation and operation of the school in a tourist area will be a reason to push the entrepreneurs of the sector in continuous training of themselves and the staff of their companies?

We have been discussing for years the need to extend the tourist season and the reduced traffic during certain months of the year. Does anyone doubt that the possible operation of the school is an opportunity to create further traffic in the tourist areas that we so desperately need when the number of tourists is declining or is it better to dispute that entire cities abroad rely on the student world?

One last thing. Who disputes that the relocation of the school to an internationally recognized tourist area will not be the best springboard for it to invest in a better future by attracting further students from abroad and research associates who will surely want to reflect on the Protaras - Ayia Napa phenomenon. ;

I think the answers to the above questions are simple. NO ONE.

It is time, then, for all of us who deal with the present and the future of the Province of Famagusta to unite our voices and our forces, claiming the transfer of the first tourist school of the country to the heart of the country's tourism.

We request, therefore, the transfer of the Higher Hotel Institute of the country to the province of Famagusta. Now is the time.
