The body was found in the sea 50 meters from the shore of Kaos Xylofagou beach, a volunteer diver who participates in the research. However, due to the bad weather and the intense sea turbulence, it was not possible to retrieve the body, while a boat of the Greek Navy with divers is expected to arrive in the area.

According to the Police, around 11:20 last night, information was received at the Famagusta Police Department that two Greek Cypriots, aged 65 and his son, 39, from Liopetri, who had gone fishing in the sea area of ​​Kaos of Xylofagos, which falls in the territory of the British Dhekelia Bases, they had not returned home.

According to the information given to the Police, the two people spoke for the last time with their relatives around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, while as time passed and they did not appear in their homes, the concern for their fate grew.

The relatives of the two persons immediately started the search for them without any results, while in the area where they had gone fishing their car and a rod were found.

The Police of the British Dhekelia Bases were immediately notified and then the Police of the Republic, which in turn requested the assistance of the Port and Maritime Police.

The investigations that continued throughout the night have not brought any results until six in the morning regarding the location of the two people, who are 65 years old, retired and his 39-year-old son, an electrician.

According to their relatives, the two people had gone fishing in the area of ​​Chaos yesterday afternoon and when they did not appear in their homes until 17:30, they started looking for them but to no avail.

With the first light of day, the search for the two persons was intensified. From the morning, police from the British Bases and the Republic, relatives, friends and volunteers are searching the rocky shore bit by bit. A Port Police boat as well as volunteer divers are also participating in the investigations.
