A campaign to promote Ayia Napa abroad and especially in the United Kingdom as a safe tourist destination was launched yesterday, Wednesday 20 April, in view of the new tourist season by the High Commissioner of Great Britain Mr. Rick Todd and the Mayor of Ayia Napa to John. meeting they had at the City Hall.

The meeting, which was also attended by Consul Garry Nicholls and the head of the Press Office of the High Commissioner Mrs. Alexandra Needham, the two men discussed issues of common interest, emphasizing the actions that will be launched to make it widely known that Ayia Napa is one of the safest destinations.

In a statement after the meeting, the British High Commissioner expressed his satisfaction that Cyprus and especially Ayia Napa is the first tourist destination in the preferences of the British and "we want to encourage British tourists to organize timely and safe and invited young people, mainly Britons, to take part in the campaign entitled "Safe Ayia Napa tourism season".

For his part, the Mayor stressed the importance of the above campaign for the tourism industry and referred to the promotion of the campaign by sending photos from their vacation that will confirm that Ayia Napa is a completely safe tourist destination.

Mr. Karousos also thanked the High Commissioner for his valuable assistance in promoting the above objectives and not only meaning that the cooperation with the High Commission is on a long-term basis.
