Two young men aged 21 and 19 from Avgorou were arrested by the Police yesterday, Saturday, in connection with a case of transporting an assembled shotgun in a closed area for hunting and in a no-hunting area.
According to the Police, around 11:30 on Saturday morning, members of the Thera Service who were conducting an nesting patrol in the area of Achnas Dam, which is a forbidden hunting area, noticed a car that did not have license plates with registration numbers. They put it under surveillance and at the right moment tried to stop it for control.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a chase ensued. Arriving in Avgorou, the co-driver threw an assembled shotgun from the window and then turning, the car stopped. The co-driver got out of it and the driver left the place.
This is a 21-year-old from Avgorou. The members of the Thera Service confiscated the weapon and then handed it over to the 21-year-old to the Police for the continuation of the investigative work.
At 6:00 in the afternoon, the driver of the car was also arrested with a court warrant. He is a 19-year-old national guard from Avgorou, cousin of the 21-year-old.
The Xylotympos Police Station is investigating the case.
