Popular outdoor market

By Luke Chr. Luke:

In December 2012, seeing the financial crisis, I had suggested in my letter to the mayor and published in Sotira News, the creation of an open-air municipal market in our municipality, mainly to help the people, the producers to have their own products, if they want , and people to benefit from fresh and local products at lower prices, (already the Department of Agriculture with an announcement, in fact, published the benefit that the consumer has from the creation of open public markets and according to research data the price for the benefit of the consumer more than 35%) but the response was negative from the mayor and his council. In fact, in his comment, "lio chun" wrote 11 plus 1 reasons why the market could not be created.

As a result, most of our liaison officers flood the bazaar every Saturday in neighboring Liopetri and since last Saturday they are definitely visiting the neighboring Deryneia, which as their mayor announced will be open every Saturday at a public market in the former camp. A walk on Saturday morning in Liopetri and Deryneia will convince you of the truth.

The institution of the popular market undoubtedly works quite well and successfully in all cities of Cyprus and abroad, so I personally reject the 11 plus 1 (12) reasons of "lio chun", because I believe that with a little will and good planning everything can be done. The benefit for the producer and the consumer is two-way without affecting either. But I wonder why so much denial? Are any interests of the latter affected? Or is it because the suggestion was made by Luke? If so, then I'm sorry to note that we have no case. "Offering" and "contributing" to society as a whole is not just about participating in "lio chun" associations and volunteer groups, but a host of other things, such as ideas, suggestions and suggestions that can improve situations and help our municipality and our liaisons. Let the actions of our neighbors be our example. The cost of operating the popular open-air market in the area that I suggested to suit all its citizens under the supervision of the municipality will be negligible and at the same time with serious incomes if it operates on a proper basis.

It is rumored that the mayor called for the creation of a wholesale municipal market. This is something completely different, it is in the long run, it will not benefit our courier immediately and it conflicts with the serious expense of the Savior Agricultural Products Distribution Company which is already operating in a difficult economic environment. I challenge you to realize and weigh the costs of what you want to do, on the one hand, and the negligible costs and benefits of creating a public market on the other.

These are for the reflection of all those in charge.
